Luck = Preparation x Opportunity
Way too often, we credit luck for a good outcome. By doing so we depreciate our own achievements and we discredit the work of others who „got lucky“. While we can’t control our circumstances, neither favourable nor unfavourable, we certainly can put ourselves in a better position by preparation and create opportunities for ourselves.
Preparation simply is a function of willingness to learn and putting in the work, whereas opportunity can be increased by showing up, making connections with others, and putting your work out there for others to see.
Most companies & products did not become successful by luck („oh, say had this and that going for them, they knew…“), they put in the work and were ready once opportunity was created. |
